6 progressively led classes over one month
Classes: Wednesdays, Nov. 3, 10,17, (No Class Nov. 24th) Dec. 1, 8, 15;
This is a a perfect foundation for a new student to ashtanga yoga or anyone wishing to inspire their practice with deeper understanding and especially those who have fallen off the yoga wagon.
This series will deepen the foundations built upon the fall session. We will continue to build upon the philosophy and yoga practices , and develop greater awareness. This session is open to anyone who has some yoga experience or who has complete a beginner's series at Balance Yoga & Wellness.
The real benefits of yoga come when students commit to an ongoing practice and learns to connect to a deeper place within. As Pattabhi Jois would often say, Ashtanga yoga is 99% practice and 1% theory. We start with the 1% theory so that commitment to the practice can grow from there.
Each class will build upon the next, and the concepts will be repeated and practiced over time. Classes will include linking of the philosophy to the practice, and the practice to everyday life. The asthanga system builds inner and outer strength when practiced with consistency over time. Although the class meets once per week, students are expected to practice what they’ve learnt in between sessions with the teacher. In this way they can start to understand the concept of yoga being something practiced each day, even if this is sitting still and being with the breath for two minutes.
